Today’s the day! We’re about to board our first flight and begin our journey. This leg will be composed of two flights, the first to Los Angeles, which was not included in our Round The World itinerary, and the second, which officially kicks off the RTW trip, and which takes us to Auckland, New Zealand.
We’ve spent the last week cleaning out the condo, acquiring last-minute items, and testing our packing skills. Packing has taken a couple of efforts, each pruning our possessions more harshly than the last. I thought it would be the various gadgetry that occupied the most space, since we’re bringing pretty much everything we could find with a battery or plug-in, however it seems that clothing still comes out on top. Even keeping as minimal a set as we could, the bulk of our packs is still occupied by our wardrobe.
I have no doubt that we will refine our requirements as the trip progresses, but for now it seems like we’ve stripped down as much as we can.
Our flight leaves today at a very civilized 12:40PM, so we still got to sleep in and have a leisurely breakfast prior to departure. Assuming that all goes as planned we will post again once we’re safely tucked in to our hostel in Auckland.
